Nebraska’s SIMS Martial Arts Academy, affiliated with the revolutionary 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu system, is no longer the Heartland’s best kept secret. With the success of its competitors in the cage and on the sporting mats, SIMS dojo is quickly making a name for itself as a premiere academy in the midwest. By using “No Way as Way”, SIMS (an acronym for the Science of Integrated Martial Systems) merges aspects of Jujitsu, Karate, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do/Jun fan gung fu, Kali, and more to create a unique martial system. Students ranging from hobbyists, to amateur and professional fighters, to law enforcement, and even UFC veterans have taken advantage of all the SIMS instructors have to offer. Instructor’s Bio:
With nearly 30 years of martial arts experience, Sensei Derek Stewart is arguably the best the Heartland has to offer.

As Nebraska’s first black belt promoted by Eddie Bravo in the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu System, Sensei Derek Stewart brings a progressive and modern approach to no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu instruction. Sensei Derek Stewart is also a 4th Degree black belt through the Otomi Martial Arts, a 3rd degree black belt in Kihido Karate, a 2nd Degree black belt in Sanuces Ryu Jiu-Jitsu under former world champion Shihan Daryl Johnson, and certified instructor in the progressive fighting arts.

Ever the student, he is currently continuing his study of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Filipino Martial Arts, Kickboxing, and more.
